Fuse Glass For Handmade Jewellery
Colourful and Unique Hand-Cut Glass Pieces
These hand-made charms, pendants or embellishments make beautiful, handcrafted pieces which can be fixed to necklaces, pendants, earrings and cufflinks.
Glass is a great material to work with - it is colourful and affordable and can be combined with other materials such as metal clay. Dichroic glass jewellery is particularly popular due to the amazing iridescent features. Mixtures of transparent and opaque glass options provide unpredictable but often charming results.
To make glass-fused jewellery each piece of glass is cut to size (usually from larger glass sheets). The shapes are then layered. It is a fun jewellery making process as crafters/makers can experiment with different colours, shapes, sizes and materials. Unique designs can be created by adding granules of glass (fine or coarse frit), small particles of glass sheets or glass chips, glass stringers, Milefiore chips, metal and more. Once the design process has finished, the glass is then fused using traditional techniques in specialist glass kilns. During the kiln firing process the layers of glass will fuse together to form solid pieces of jewellery.
No two pieces are ever the same in handmade glass-fusing jewellery making.
